Liner Notes

The debut single, 'Ride It', (as well as the material for the upcoming EP), was written in GarageBand on River's iPad. He decided to deliberately move away from writing songs on the guitar and a traditional studio so he could find a new musical direction and focus on the essence of his song-writing craft.

The biggest inspiration for the track was not any particular band or sound, but the "vibe" of eclectic Melbourne DJ event, Finishing School, where River and friends have spent many a night out dancing into the small hours of the morning. 'Ride It' tries to capture the essence of one of those great nights out partying on a pumping indie dance floor.

River works with friend and local Melbourne producer, engineer and musician, Yen Nguyen (10 Kinds of Handsome) to shape his Ipad creations into radio-ready songs. Yen is a talented songwriter and musician in his own right, releasing Mechanical Pterodactyl – Watercolours in 2012.

Words and music by River Cordes-Holland, 2013. Produced, engineered and mixed by Yen Nguyen (10 Kinds of Handsome). Vocals by River. Backing vocals by Sophie Alexandra and Jenny Lee. Synths, guitars, percussion and programming by Yen. Mastered by Tony "Jack the Bear" Mantz.
